Alice Cathleen Shannon

Alice Cathleen Shannon, age 91, of Simi Valley, California, passed away on December 11, 2017.

Funeral service will be held at Rose Family Funeral Home, 4444 Cochran St., Simi Valley, CA 93063, (805) 581-3800 on Monday, December 18 at 10:00 a.m. Family visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m.

Deacon Melecio of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church will officiate the funeral service. Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 1380 Fitzgerald Road, Simi Valley, CA. A reception will be held at Rose Family Funeral Home following the burial.

Alice Cathleen Bergmann Shannon was born in Vermillion, Kansas to Albert and Catherine Bergmann on July 28, 1926. She attended Marysville High School and graduated in 1944. She attended Kansas State University for three years. She worked as a legal secretary for several companies and the State of Kansas for nearly 40 years. In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Alice enjoyed music, dancing, fashion, walking, senior center activities, conversations with people, and prayer.

Alice is survived by her son Pat (Denise) Shannon of Redwood City, California, and daughters Kay Dougay of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Lea (Curtis) Emerson of Burke, Virginia, and Lori (Jorge) Amely of Simi Valley, California; her 10 grandchildren: Joshua Hansen of Seattle, Washington, Caitlin Shannon of San Mateo, California, 1st Lt. Caulin Shannon of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Cavan Shannon of Redwood City, California, Amy Dougay of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Kelly (Cory) Matte of Houston, Texas, Marcie (Tray) Braud of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Ariane Emerson of Burke, Virginia, Ryan and Izzie Amely of Simi Valley, California; her four great grandchildren: Gavin and Grant Turton of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Madison and Callen Matte of Houston, Texas; six nieces: Jeanne Chavez, Joanne Abernathy, Susie Heiser, Carolyn Seematter, Annie Holle and Ann Trudell; and 13 nephews: Gary and Larry Smutny, Tommy, Danny, Kenny, Robert, Billy, Joey, David and Connie Bergmann, and Earl, Glenn, and Ralph Beck.

She is preceded in death by her son, Bruce Shannon, her sisters Martha, Marie McDonald, and Bernice Smutny, and brothers Conrad, Edward, and Leo Bergmann.
