“At this point, we can decide to no longer suffer or experience pain. Every source of pain is a thought we have chosen.” -A Course in Miracles

Alvin Albert “Al” Lampell was one with the love that binds everything everywhere. He was in tune with the world, and he danced to the rhythm.

He was “dad” to his two children, “grandpa” to his grandchildren, and “Uncle Al” to everyone else.

Al was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1936. He spent his high school years running track and dancing. He attended the City College of New York and graduated with his Master’s in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. When he was just 22 years old, he met Fredda Lerner, who would become his wife. They had two beautiful children, Lorri and Michael, the pride of his life. They separated amicably and stayed dear friends until her passing.

Al’s life was one of pure devotion. He read that consuming meat and dairy would give you cancer, and followed a macrobiotic diet for over 40 years. He went on biking trips that spanned hundreds of miles well into his 70s. In the 1980s he was introduced to “A Course in Miracles” and he spent the rest of his life teaching to anyone who would listen.

Al was never a person that could be contained. He was a counselor, an electrical engineer, a teacher of ACIM, a mediator, an inventor, an officiant, an author, and a dreamer. He worked on top-secret communications for the US government and taught dance. He was a proud volunteer; and spent decades teaching parenting classes at homeless shelters, for which he received the LifeMoves Community Spirit Award, and various recognitions from the Senate in California.

He was also proud of his work in Mediation. He founded “Conscious Communications” as a way to help people communicate with love instead of with anger.
