Carl Joseph “Chick” DeMarco, 100, longtime resident of Hawthorne, New York, passed away on April 7, 2020, in Westlake Village, California. Chick was born in White Plains, New York, to Dominick and Filomena “Fanny” DeMarco, on November 19, 1919. He was a graduate of White Plains High School. He worked as a truck driver for Cooney Brothers for 43 years, and was a member of the Teamsters Union, Local 456. He enjoyed gardening, construction projects and his summer home on Long Beach Island. Chick proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in the Pacific theater of World War II. Chick is survived by his wife of 77 years, Rose DeMarco, his son Carl DeMarco and his wife Betty, his daughter Donna Marie Salvatore and her husband Ralph, grandchildren Amy Stella, Ann Williams, Christopher DeMarco and Michael Salvatore, six great-grandchildren, his sister Lucy Todd, and many loving nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Laura Moskalik, Antenette Moravec, Rose Kulers and Catherine Johansson. Memorial services will be held in New York at a later date.
