Charles Milton Malone

Charles Milton Malone, 88, of Thousand Oaks, California, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026. Charlie was born on January 4, 1938, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Irene Mendenhall Malone and Paul Malone. During his childhood, his family moved frequently before eventually settling in Lawrence, Kansas, where he was raised. He later attended the University of Kansas and, following graduation, moved to California, a place he proudly called home for the remainder of his life.

On July 31, 1976, Charlie married the love of his life, Susan Gail Malone. Together they built a life rooted in love, family, friendship, and music. Charlie enjoyed a successful career in software and engineering, working for RCA and Litton Data Systems for many years before retiring in 1998.

Music was one of Charlie's greatest passions and a defining part of who he was. A gifted lifelong musician, he played the trombone, bass, and piano and performed with numerous bands throughout the years. His love of music brought joy to family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of hearing him play. It remained a constant source of happiness and connection throughout his life.

Above all, Charlie was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved time with his family and was known for his kindness, optimism, and unwavering love for those closest to him.

Charlie was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Malone, and his daughter, Cynthia Jean Malone.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Susan Gail Malone; his daughters, Carrie Malone Schulze, Amanda Michelle Dolphin Malone, and Victoria Anne Cole; and his seven cherished grandchildren.

Charlie will be remembered for his warmth, his positive outlook on life, his deep devotion to Susie and his family, and the music that filled his home and touched so many lives. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
