Charles David Warner

1944 — July 9, 2014

Charles “David” Warner was release from the pain and suffering of cancer on Wednesday, July 9, 2014. He was surrounded with love from his family and passed peacefully. David was born on June 19, 1944 in Wilmington, North Carolina to Charles and Catherine Warner (deceased). He grew up in North Carolina where he also attended Campbell College. He started working with Crawford & Company in 1969 as a claims adjuster and investigator and this allowed him to transfer across the country to the West Coast where he always dreamed of living. He had only just retired, after 45 years of devoted work with the same company, working in offices in Sioux City, Iowa, Kansas City, Missouri, Los Angeles, California and, most recently, in Woodland Hills, California. David was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kay Gilliam Warner of Simi Valley, and his two adult children, Kimberly Alfano (Mark) of Ventura, and Anthony Warner of Simi Valley, and his beloved granddaughter, Isabella Alfano. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Bankett (John) of Charlotte, N.C., and his brother Dan Warner (Dena) of Santa Fe, N.M. First and foremost, David was a Christian who loved the Lord and put his trust in Jesus. His second passion was his family and the time spent together with them was his greatest joy. His granddaughter, Isabella, brought him some of his greatest joy, especially during some very difficult times. Besides these loves, David enjoyed traveling the world and took his family on many adventures abroad. His love for his Hummer cannot go without mention as well. He was an avid member of the Hummer Club and reveled in Hummer paraphernalia and dreamed of off-roading. Movies were another great passion every Friday and Saturday. A Celebration of David’s life will be held on July 19, 2014 at 11:00am at Simi Hills Christian Church in Simi Valley at 4307 Walnut Ave, Simi Valley, CA 93063. Rose Family Funeral Home is serving the family. Donations/memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. The family wishes to thank the amazing doctors and nurses and Simi Adventist Hospital for their compassionate care. They made this process easier for our family.
