Listen to Obituary

Christina Metcalf Oswald, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025, surrounded by the family that adored her. She was a woman of remarkable strength, intelligence, talent, faith and kindness who touched countless lives and leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion.

Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Christie was the daughter of Ken and Isolde Metcalf and sister to Tom. From her parents she inherited resilience, determination, and a deep love of family. She grew up as a leader and never a follower, excelling in academics, music, swimming, and sports– truly whatever she set her mind to.

Christie graduated Tulane University summa cum laude in both history and music (piano). She won acclaim for numerous musical performances, including playing at the Louisiana Jazz & Heritage Festival and with the New Orleans Civic Symphony. She was a semifinalist for the Rhodes Scholarship before earning her law degree from the University of California, Berkeley. She began her career in entertainment law at the firm Greenberg Glusker, where she quickly distinguished herself with her intelligence, warmth, and energy.

She met her husband, Tim, in Los Angeles in 1990. They built a beautiful life together, full of adventure, travel, and deep love. Whether on the bike path in Playa del Rey, boating in Big Bear or playing pickleball in Calabasas, they were inseparable. Some say two lawyers shouldn’t marry, but in this case it worked flawlessly. Of course, being the litigator, Christie won most debates.

Christie spent 15 years at The Walt Disney Company, her dream job. She practiced business and intellectual property litigation, but was most passionate about her many music law cases, including work on beloved films such as Toy Story, Aladdin, and Monsters, Inc.

After her third child, Luci, was born with Down syndrome, Christie chose to leave her career and devote herself fully to family. As a mother, she was tireless and selfless, pouring her heart into raising her children: Jack, Maddie, and Luci. She filled their lives with music, adventure, encouragement, and unconditional love. Her devotion to Luci was especially profound; Christie’s patience, joy, and strength gave Luci the very best life and inspired all who knew them.

Christie is remembered for her brilliance, her humor, her positivity, her generosity, and her fierce love for those around her. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a cherished daughter and sister, and a loyal friend. She leaves behind her husband, Tim; her son, Jack; his wife, Roni; daughters, Maddie and Luci; her brother, Tom; and countless friends and extended family who will miss her dearly.

Christie’s life was full of radiant joy, remarkable accomplishments, and boundless love. Her legacy will live on in the family she created, the friends she uplifted, and the countless lives she touched. May her life remind us all to love deeply, give generously, and hold fast to hope. We thank God that we were blessed with her beautiful presence in our lives.
