Born in Los Angeles July 11, 1922, to Dr. Conrad and Mary Gray Kinstad. Died March 5, 2014. Graduate of Melrose Elementary, Bancroft Jr High, Fairfax High, and UCLA. At UCLA, he was president of Theta Chi and a member of the tennis and basketball teams. He served as Tank Platoon Leader in Europe during World War II, and was recalled to serve as Captain in the 89th Medium Tank Battalion in the Korean War, 1950-52. He taught U.S. History at LA Valley College for nearly forty years. Survived by his wife Flora May Bigelow Kinstad; predeceased by daughter Nancy Anne Kinstad and sister Helen Kinstad Richards. Also survived by his many nephews and nieces, including Judge Conrad Richards, Virginia R. Schwerin, George Richards, Katherine Richards-Bess, and Ellen Gray Richards-Barlow. Services will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, March 11, at Oakwood Memorial Park in Chatsworth.
