Conrad Paul Nervig

December 22, 1929 — May 11, 2025

Conrad Paul Nervig 95, of Simi Valley, California passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025 in Palmdale, California.

Conrad Paul Nervig, or “Paul” as everyone called him, was born in Ames, Iowa on December 22,1929 to Morrill and Maylo Nervig. Paul grew up in Slater, Iowa graduating high school and enlisting in the National Guard in 1948. He married the love of his life, Pauline in 1950 and had two children, DeAnn and Denis.

Paul and his wife, Pauline moved to Simi Valley, California where they became founding members of Our Saviour Lutheran Church. There, Paul served his community enthusiastically, whether it be through sports leagues or feeding the homeless.

As an engineer in the aerospace industry, Paul worked on many projects during his career including the development of the Apache Attack helicopter. He also had his pilot’s license and loved to fly around southern California to the thrill and terror of his wife and daughter.

Whether by land or air, Paul and his family visited almost all of the continental United States. He taught his children the craft of camping and fishing whether in a tent or in an RV, he shared his love of nature and enjoyed the community of fellow adventurers.

Square dancing was a pastime he shared with his wife. They were members of A Square D club where they served as directors and board members and managed multiple national square dance conventions.

Retirement lead to his great passion project: golf. Paul served as the Marshal at the Simi Valley Golf Course and with a few friends, started the Simi Valley Senior League which has grown to over 250 active members.

Paul was a man involved in his community, whether it was through sports, family or church he connected to us all. He has left this world having touched many people’s lives with his loud laugh, thirst for adventure and his quest for the next round of golf. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Clark and his wife Pauline. He is survived by his daughter DeAnn (Roger) Rommereim, son Denis (Lisa) Nervig, grandchildren Jennifer Lewis, Andrew Rommereim, Madison and Lucas Nervig, great grandchildren, Arianna, Kailey and Caprica Lewis, Austyn, and Collin Rommereim.
