Constance A. O’Hagan

Constance “Connie” O’Hagan, 79, passed away peacefully at home in Westlake Village on Thursday, January 5, 2017, following a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Connie was born on September 29, 1937, in Manhattan, N.Y., to Ann (Hozer) from Muskegon, Michigan, and Stanley Serbent, who emigrated from Lithuania to the US. When Connie was two, her parents moved to Detroit, MI. For several years following, Connie lived with her aunt in North Hollywood, CA. Her parents followed, relocating to Los Angeles. Connie attended St. Mary’s High School in L.A. and Mount St. Mary’s College in Brentwood, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts. She went on to work as a social worker for LA County for many years. Connie married John “Jack” O’Hagan in 1962, lived in Brentwood, CA and had a daughter, Jackie. Connie and Jack were married for 45 years.

Determined to own her own home, Connie saved and searched until she finally found the right place in Sherman Oaks, CA, where she and her family lived until 1986. Connie worked as a Child Custody Investigator for the LA Superior Court, and eventually went back to school in to obtain her Master’s degree in Psychology from Pepperdine University when she was in her 40s.

Connie and Jack moved to Westlake Village in 1986, where Connie then worked as a marriage and family counselor. She had a private practice for about 20 years, and volunteered holding workshops at St. Jude’s Church in the 90s.

Connie was passionate about many things: Horse racing, cooking, politics, theater, music, reading, movies, dolphins and a good happy hour. She overcame many obstacles in her life, yet she was so strong. We will remember Connie for having a wonderful sense of humor and extra zest for life. She loved to make others’ happy, and laughed just as hard as she listened.

She is survived by her daughter, Jackie, son-in-law, Martin and grandchildren, Kate “KD” (18) and Michael (15) and many loving cousins.

She is pre deceased by John “Jack” O’Hagan, and sister-in-law, Maureen O’Hagan.
