Daniel Robert Cote

Daniel Robert Cote, 55, of Simi Valley CA, passed away on March 14, 2026 in Santa Monica.

A Celebration will be held at Rose Family Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm with a memorial service at 4:00 pm. The service will be an informal gathering where we can share our favorite memories and stories. We encourage you to wear your favorite Hawaiian shirt in honor of Dan.

Dan was born in Willimantic, CT to Robert and Julia Cote on January 19, 1971, and graduated from Ellington High School in 1989. He went on to earn a degree in business from Bryant University and a law degree from Pepperdine University. He worked as a family lawyer with his own company, the Cote Law Group, for many years.

Dan never knew a stranger and never backed down from an argument – usually with a grin. He will be remembered for his big heart and gregarious personality. Though he was passionate about guitars, rock music, comic books and video games, his true north was his sweet daughter, Saia. He built a life around her and for her, learning how to be a single father and a “Girl Dad” as he went.

Dan is survived by his daughter, Saia Cote of Simi Valley, CA; his mother, Julia Cote of Ellington, CT; his sister, Janet Cote of Maynard, MA; his brother, Tom Cote of Ashburn, VA, as well as Tom’s wife, Catherine, and their two children. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Cote.
