Daniel Lee Witting, 78, passed away at home in Thousand Oaks, California, on September 26, 2025, with his wife, Susan, and daughter, Kaitlin, by his side. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother in law, cousin and friend, Dan will be remembered for his devotion to his family and loving spirit.
Dan was born on December 29, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois. When he was approximately five years old, his family moved to Boulder, Colorado, where he lived until his graduation from the University of Colorado in 1970, with a degree in Architecture. After meeting his wife, Susan, in 1980, they quickly got engaged and Dan moved to Thousand Oaks, where Susan was from, and lived there ever since.
Dan quickly became involved in Thousand Oaks architecture and land planning. An accomplished architect in Ventura County for more than 40 years, he designed many beautiful custom homes and remodels and additions in the area for individuals He also helped shape the look of the Conejo Valley where he helped plan much of the North Ranch and South Ranch areas of Westlake Village. Dan also served as an Art Commissioner for the City of Thousand Oaks from 1984 - 1993.
Dan loved fly fishing and would take yearly guys’ trips with good friends to places like the Green River, the San Juan River, and one spectacular trip to fish in Alaska. He enjoyed playing golf and snow skiing. He loved Lake Tahoe. He was devoted to his girls, Leslie and Kaitlin, and a very involved dad. He adored his grandchildren.
Dan is survived by his Wife, Susan (Henrichsen) Witting, their daughters Leslie (and Galen) Satterlee, Kaitlin (and Todd) Johanson, and his five grandchildren, Paige and Gwyneth Satterlee; and Makayla, Cody, and Chase Johanson.
Services are planned for November 8, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Ascension Lutheran church in Thousand Oaks, California.
