Donald was born July 18, 1933 in West Warwick, Rhode Island. After graduating from high school in 1951, he joined the Air Force where he served until 1957. He completed Cadet School in 1953 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. On September 17, 1955 he married Mary (Laclair). After he left the Air Force, he attended the University of Rhode Island. Then he went to work for Sperry Rand Univac in Springfield, Massachusetts as a computer field engineer. Later, he worked for Gerber Scientific and in 1966 transferred to their Southern California Division. He and the family took up residence in Simi Valley at that time and have resided here since. While in Southern California, he also was employed at Hughes Air Craft and Bendix Corporation. At the time of his retirement, he was employed by Radio Shack.
Don was an avid sports fan, cheering on his sons as they played baseball during their teen years. His favorite sport was hockey and he had followed the Kings for many years. One of his favorite pastimes was to travel to Las Vegas.
He loved children and they were drawn to him wherever he went.
He is survived by his wife Mary, sons Robert, Keith and Mark, daughter-in-law Yolanda, grandchildren Ian, Allyson, Hannah, Bethlehem, Shilo and Matthew, and great grandchildren Jakob, Stella and Hunter.
Don was a loving and generous man and he will be greatly missed by his family.
A rosary will be held at St. Rose of Lima on Wednesday, March 11th at 9:30 followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 and a graveside at Assumption Cemetery.
