Doreen Jane Fearon Dowthwaite passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on October 10, 2026 — her birthday. Born in Morecambe, England, Doreen with her husband,Terry, came to the United States in 1964, beginning a new chapter of her life in a country she would call home.
Doreen was a kind and gentle woman whose greatest joys came from spending time with her family and friends. She treasured family gatherings and the special memories created around the table, on camping trips, and while traveling together. She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, including gardening, knitting, cake decorating and getting together with friends. Her gentle spirit and love for those around her will be remembered with great affection by all who knew her.
Doreen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Terry. Above all, she cherished her family, who were the heart of her life. She leaves behind her loving children: Sharron Nelson; Andrew Dowthwaite (Diana); David Dowthwaite; Travis Dowthwaite (Stacie); and Michele Dowthwaite.
She was a proud Nana to Amy Nelson Duran (Geoff), Megan Nelson Anderson (Rob), Sarah Dowthwaite Lindquist (Scott), Alex Dowthwaite Whitney (Kyle), Savannah Dowthwaite, Hailey Dowthwaite, and Teegan Dowthwaite.
Her legacy of love continues, as she was affectionately called “Little Nana”, through her seven great-grandchildren: Brooklynn Duran, Gavin Duran, Elizabeth Duran, Henry Anderson, Patrick Anderson, Hazel Anderson, and Ocean Laurente Dowthwaite.
Doreen’s life was filled with the love of family, the companionship of friends, and the memories made through shared experiences. Though her passing leaves a deep sadness in the hearts of those who loved her, the memories she created and the love she gave will live on through the generations of her family.
It is especially poignant that Doreen passed away on the very day she was born. As her family remembers her, they will celebrate not only the years she lived, but also the kindness she shared, the moments they treasured, and the lasting place she holds in their hearts.
