Doris Clair Gillespie, 84, of Simi Valley California, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and caregiver, on January 3, 2026, after a courageous battle with Lewy body dementia. Doris was born on May 13, 1941, in Highland Park, Michigan.

Doris had God's gift of kindness and generosity. She received her degree in education from Eastern Michigan University and later earned her master’s from California State University.

Doris was a high school special education teacher in Michigan. After moving to California with her family, she taught middle school at Huntington Jr. High School in San Marino. She was admired and loved by the faculty and her students.

Doris is survived by her husband, Dan Gillespie, sister, Sally McConaughy, daughter, Robin Clair Willis, son, David E. Gillespie III and her six grandchildren: William J. Willis, Chandler Clair Willis, Pablo D. Willis, Naomi K. Gillespie, David E. Gillespie IV and Zev R. Gillespie.

Throughout her life, Doris cherished time spending with her charities, U.M.W. and P.E.O. She built a family rooted in love and strength.

Doris shared 61 years with her devoted husband Dan Gillespie, whose steadfast love was a source of great joy. She was deeply caring and loving mother to her children Robin and David. Doris will truly be missed by her family and friends.

Services will be held at United Methodist Church, 1000 E Janss Road, Thousand Oaks CA.
