Dorothy Elizabeth Sage 1933 - 2013

CASTAIC, CA - Dorothy Elizabeth Sage, 79, of Castaic, formerly of Northridge, CA and South Bend Indiana passed away Tuesday morning, April 2, 2013. All her sons, daughter in laws and many grand children and great grand children were by her side. Dorothy was born December 28, 1933 in South Bend, a daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Glueckert) Thoman. She grew up in South Bend where she graduated from Central Catholic High School and attended beauty college Dorothy, an avid ballroom dancer, married her dance partner Charles Robert Sage and soon moved to North Hollywood Ca. where they taught dance at the Arthur Murray studio and began raising a family. Three sons later, they moved to Northridge. where they had two more sons. She supported all her son's school, sports, and music activities. While still raising her family, Dorothy purchased and operated the Mikes Pizza franchise at the corner of Roscoe and Reseda Blvds (great pizza and memories). She loved dogs and cats, African Violets, stained glass, and golfing. She finished her working career with Gelson's Markets as a deli clerk charming her customers with her warmth and big smile. Dorothy was always proud of her family's ties to the University of Notre Dame. In recent years she became an increasingly dedicated fan of the Fighting Irish as well as a fan of all the Los Angeles based sporting teams. She also reconnected with her Catholic faith and always attended mass via her TV. Dorothy's surviving family includes her children, Charles Jr. of Truckee, CA, David of Valencia, CA, Robert (Catharine) of Cottonwood, CA, James (Caroline) of Castaic, and Lawrence of Castaic; grand children, Simone, Eric, Rebecca, Paul, Suzanne, Alexander, Zachary, Amanda, Joshua and Mathew; great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Carson, Luca, Caydence,and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Charles, a sister Jean Banicki, a brother Jack Thoman, a sister Joan Wilk, and her twin brother David Thoman. Good bye "my honey".
