Edward Gilbert Brown

Edward "Eddie” Brown died peacefully at his home in Simi Valley on March 6, 2016 at the age of 73, after a heartbreaking but courageous battle with ALS.

Eddie is survived by his three sons, Eddie, Jr.; Ernie, and Erich; his siblings, Carol Rodriguez and Sam Brown; six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Sharon Brown, his parents Robert and Angelina Brown, his brothers Tony and Rusty Brown, and his sisters Sandra Brown and Linda Sutterly.

Eddie was born on July 1, 1942 in Fresno, CA to Robert and Angelina Brown. He grew up in the San Fernando Valley, and graduated from San Fernando High School in 1961. In addition to earning his Associates Degree, he served proudly in the United States Army for two years. While teaching at medical college, he met Sharon while she was studying nursing and quickly fell in love with not only her beauty, but her brains, and quick-wit. They soon thereafter married, and lived the remainder of their lives together in Simi Valley for over 40 years.

Eddie was a quick and passionate learner and worked various jobs which included: a child field worker (unbeknownst to his parents, but to help with expenses at home while skipping school), a mechanic, a welder, a respiratory therapist, a children’s bus driver, and ultimately a custodian at Hillside Middle School with the Simi Valley School District from where he eventually retired.

He enjoyed running marathons, fishing, hiking, camping, dancing, family gatherings, bowling, playing horse shoes; Western and Sci-fi movies, tipping big, and always, a good conversation and laugh!

A celebration of his life is scheduled for 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 with a reception to follow at Cornerstone Community Church, 2080 Winifred St., Simi Valley, CA 93063. Graveside service will be at Simi Valley Public Cemetery at 1461 Thompson Lane, Simi Valley, CA 93065.
