Listen to Obituary

Edward (Teddy) James McBride III passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026, at the age of 95. He was surrounded by family and holding hands with his Gloria when he passed.

He was born on January 28, 1931, to Edward (Ted) James and Dorothea (Dottie) Marie McBride at St. Vincent Hospital in Los Angeles CA.

He was big brother to twins Dorotha (Carla Rattenni) and Naiomi (Mimi Chandler) McBride

Edward spent his younger years growing up in Providence Rhode Island. He moved to Van Nuys CA at 16 and graduated from Alexander Hamilton High School.

He joined the Air Force in 1949 and was stationed in Okinawa Japan. He met and married the love of his life Gloria Jean Gaxiola in 1977.

They settled in a small ranch home in Moorpark CA where they hosted many wonderful family get togethers and celebrated many birthdays, holidays and family reunions.

All of the grand kids got a turn at surprising grandpa by pushing him, “unexpectedly”, into the pool

Their 49-year marriage brought together a blended family of 5 sons and 2 daughters.

Always upbeat and positive about life he always encouraged us to be and do the best we could. He was never disparaging or spoke badly of anyone.

He loved to tell jokes and play practical and gag jokes on folks. He shared (mostly pranking on us) the best of them with family and friends.

He could juggle, dance, sing (not just opera 😉) cook amazing food dishes including incredibly delicious cakes and cheesecakes.

Dad was a superb athlete; he loved all sports, track & field, boxing, basketball, football but he excelled at baseball. He played shortstop into his early 50s on company teams, consistently being the home run leader. He taught us all how to catch and could throw a true knuckleball. He loved running and regularly ran 5K & 10Ks into his 70s.

Edward was preceded in death by his son Mike (George) and sister Mimi.

He is survived by his wife Gloria, their children, David (Dawn) McBride, Thomas McBride, Tami Long, Paul (Jeanie) Loy, Jamen Gaxiola, Kathleen (Joe) Caccamo, 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren (and one great grandchild on the way).

He was the best Dad, Papa, Grandpa and Great Grandpa to us all. We all miss him so much. He was one in a million.
