Elly Gioklie Go, 75, took her last breath at home in Simi Valley on Sunday, February 15, 2026, after a long ongoing battle with her health. She was with her daughters when she was called home to our Lord and Savior.
Elly was born on August 16, 1950, in Sidoarjo, Indonesia, where she spent most of her childhood and later moved to Surabaya during her early adult life. She and her husband, Theo, moved to the United States to pursue a better future and opportunities, mostly for their children. They left behind their home, jobs, comfort, best friends, and in Elly’s case, her mom, siblings and other close extended family.
Elly loved to cook and was very good at it. Her specialty was cooking Indonesian food. Those who knew her enjoyed her many Indonesian dishes that she made and perfected over the years. Her passion in cooking stemmed mostly from her need to cook the food she had been accustomed to and enjoyed in Indonesia.
In addition to cooking, Elly enjoyed her time spent with her family and friends and often spent laborious amount of time prepping and cooking for them. The last burst of energy she had before she passed was spent cooking for her beloved Priest and friends.
Elly’s health during the last few years of her life, unfortunately, couldn’t match her strong and passionate nature. She succumbed to her declining health from all the debilitating illnesses she had to endure, from her heart condition to her pancreatic cancer. Although we are sad and are missing her terribly, we are glad that God has finally given her the rest and comfort she had longed and prayed for.
She leaves behind a loving family, including children, Catharina (David) Allen and Joyce (Craig) Rohan; sister, Lienawati Jong Wibowo; grandchildren, Carson Rohan, Matthew Rohan, Zachary Allen and Hannah Allen. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, her father, mother, brother, sisters, and a grandson. Our beloved mom, aunt, oma, sister, neighbor, and friend will be missed tremendously.
Elly’s funeral service will be held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Simi Valley, California, on Thursday, March 12, 2026, starting with the viewing at 9:30 am and Mass at 10:00 am. She will be laid to rest at Oakwood Memorial Park in Chatsworth, California, with the interment at 11:30 am.
