Eugene Edward Giordan

September 11, 1941 — January 3, 2015

Eugene Edward "Geno" Giordan, 73, passed away peacefully during early morning hours of January 3, 2015 while surrounded by loved ones at Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks, California.

Eugene was born in the Bronx suburb of New York City on September 11, 1941 to the late Edna Baker and Eugene Giordan, Sr. Eugene moved to Westlake Village, California in 1978 and resided in Simi Valley for the last fifteen years.

Following the conclusion of the Korean War, Eugene enlisted in the Army and served as a medic for his battalion. Upon his return from deployment, Eugene married his sweetheart and love of his life Joan Giocondo Giordan. Married on May 31, 1964, Joan would stay by his side until the end, while simultaneously demonstrating an incredible example of love and commitment.

Geno was known by family and friends for his methodical dedication to both his family (grandchildren in particular) and to the arts of acting, singing, and cinema. Watching his grandchildren participate in youth sporting events, plays, graduations, and almost any other given function became perhaps his largest pleasure in later life; and left lasting impact on the lives and personalities of all of those involved. Eugene also displayed a lifelong interest in the arts, particularly singing and acting. If Geno was not supporting his loved ones either on the field or through life's endeavors, chances were he was singing, listening to music, reading, or even directing his own short films. Eugene's dedication to the arts have had a profound impact on his family, most importantly his daughters. The magnitude of his well rounded personality is additionally expressed through his deep love of both amateur and professional sports, with the New York Yankees and Giants both holding a special place in his heart.

Geno is survived in life by his wife of fifty years, Joan (Giocondo) Giordan; and three daughters Katherine (Jeffrey) Hillman, Donna (Andrew) Ontiveros, and Gina (Kenneth) Painter, all of the Los Angeles area. Additionally, he is survived by his grandchildren Matthew, Ryan, Daniel, Evan and Aaron and has joined his grandson Jake in Heaven. The memories of Eugene are also carried on by his extensive family that still resides in the states of both New York and New Jersey; including his brother Michael Giordan and sister Gloria Anderson.

Services for Eugene will be held at Rose Family Funeral Home and Cremation in Simi Valley, California at eleven o'clock this Friday, January 9, 2015. The service will be followed by internment at Assumption Catholic Cemetery, located nearby in Simi Valley. Memorials are suggested to the City of Hope Cancer Research and Treatment organization or the American Cancer Society.
