Frank de Valera, age 81, of Simi Valley passed peacefully on June 25, 2016. He was born April, 24, 1935 in Tucumcari, New Mexico. He moved to Las Vegas during the “Rat Pack” heyday where learned a love of a good game of cards. Frank continued on the move after traveling with the army to Europe (on the same boat as Elvis!) to southern California on the offer of a job with the phone company. Starting as a cable splicer with Pacific Bell, he spent the next 35 years climbing telephone polls and the corporate ladder. He retired in 1992 to enjoy hunting, fishing, long card games, suspenseful novels, and on his best days, a crackling fire. Frank will be lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 53 years, Marlene, son Paul de Valera, daughter Julie (Grove), son-in-law Doug and grandchildren, Abby and Colin, who will miss their “Pap Pap” very much.
Services will be held at Rose Family Funeral Home, 4444 Cochran Street in Simi Valley on Friday, July 8, 2016.
