Frederick Emerson Long

July 15, 1939 — July 11, 2017

Frederick Emerson Long, age 77, passed away on Tuesday July 11, 2017 at Los Robles Hospital. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on July 15, 1939 and was the youngest of 7 children. Fred became a machinist when he voluntarily enlisted in the Army. He was part of the 65th Engineer Corp, and was deployed to Vietnam. After the service, he moved to California, met and married Dina. He continued working as a machinist for the next 45 years at Rockwell Science Center.

Fred was proceeded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary, his sisters Laura and Betty, brothers Art and 2 others who passed in their infancy, and his beloved daughter Kristen.

Fred is survived by his sister Sarah, son Brian, daughter-in-law Kathy, granddaughters Ariana and Daphne, grandsons Dane and Aiden and his ex-wife and close friend Dina.

He was loved by all who met him. He had a zest for living life and spending time with his numerous friends and family. He loved his dog, Faith, and called her the love of his life. He was also the best fisherman that any of us have ever known….that’s per Fred.
