George Estrella, Age 92, was born on Feb 5, 1933, in Fall River Massachusetts was sent to his eternal home on March 31,2025 in Simi Valley, California and was surrounded by his family, friends and loved ones by his side.
George, known as Papa, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God, his church, and his beautiful life of touching the lives of others and making them feel like they were the only person in the world when he spoke with them. In his younger years, he attended Catholic School and played in his church CYO Basketball League, and later attended Durfee High School in Fall River, Massachusetts. He later went on to the University of Massachusetts and graduated in 1956 with a Bachelors Degree of Science. In college, he met the love of his life, Marilyn Estrella, on a blind date and they married on July 7,1956. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
George is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Estrella of 68 years, his sister Nancy Estrella, and children George- (wife Sherry), Gary- (wife Brenda), and Geoff Estrella- (wife Nicole) and his daughter Pam Cohen- (husband Jeff). He also leaves behind the blessings of 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren who adored him dearly. Among them are Heather, Michael-(wife Maria), Corey, Jennifer- (husband Jayson), Geri- (husband Jeremy), Adam-(Deceased), Megan, Kyle, Katie, Christopher, Margaret-Ann, Ryan-(Deceased), and Jared who shared in his joyful spirit. He was deeply loved by his great grandchildren as well. Among them are, Ryder, Jordan, Jayla, Jayden, Ashlynn, Landon, Zackery, Levi, Zoe, Brooklynne and Gunner.
After his graduation from Durfee High School, George served as a US Air Force Colonel as a senior navigator and was involved in special programs. He worked at Rockdyne as a Test Engineer for the Space Shuttle and was involved in the Missile Program as a Marketing Manager for government programs.
Those who knew George will remember him for his infectious smile and overwhelming laughter, his deep-rooted faith in church and his family, and his unwavering commitment to spreading love and kindness to everyone he encountered. He had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path
The Funeral service to honor the life of George Estrella will be held on April 11th,2025 at 10:00am - at Saint Peter Claver Church, 2380 Stow St. in Simi Valley, Ca 93063 with Burial ceremony at Assumption Cemetery 1380 Fitzgerald Rd Simi Valley Ca 93065. There will also be a Rosary on April 10th at Rose Family Funeral Home at 4444 Cochran Street, Simi Valley Ca 93063 from 5-9pm to celebrate George's beautiful life.
