Geraldine Lucille Dawley

Gerry (Geraldine) Lucille Dawley, 79, of Simi Valley, CA passed away on June 12th, 2015 in West Hills, CA following a long, difficult recovery after she fell and broke her hip a year ago April.

Gerry was born in North Platte Nebraska to Fern and Gerald Houser on May 31st, 1936. They moved out to Inglewood, CA when she was a young girl and that is where she grew up and graduated from Inglewood High School in 1954. She enjoyed running around with her cousins, going to the beach and playing Roller Hockey. In her senior year at age 17 she got a job selling candy and popcorn at the Paradise Movie Theater in Westchester. This is where she met Bob Dawley, age 18, who was an usher and door man taking the tickets and also working for TWA at LAX. Mom had a date with someone else who stood her up so Bob took her out and they were together from that day forward celebrating their 61st Wedding Anniversary June 19th. They moved to Simi Valley (Santa Susana) in 1963 buying their first and only, brand new house on Big Springs Ave and that is where they still call home. She worked a short time in the cleaners but the last 47 years she worked as Mom and best friend.

She is survived by her husband Bob Dawley of Simi Valley, CA her son Rick Dawley of Templeton, CA, her daughter Sheri Willard of Northridge, CA and her sister Lois Baldwin of Wickes, AR. Daughter-in-law Laurie Dawley, Son-in-law Leon Willard and grandchildren, Robyn, Sarah and Reid Dawley and Travis Willard. Also “adopted son” Dr. Ashim Arora who was always #1 to her.

She is preceded in death by her parents Gerald and Fern Houser and her brothers Darrel and Robert Houser.
