Herbert R. Dawson, of Port Orchard, Washington, passed away on March 24, 2021 in Los Angeles, California. He was 99 years of age. Herb was born in Seattle, Washington to Lloyd and Grace Dawson on May 18, 1921. He attended high school at Highline High School and graduated in 1940. Herb served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1946 (WWII) and from 1950-1952 (Korea). Herb had many careers over his long life including milkman, dairy store owner and realtor. He enjoyed golf, bowling and fishing, but his true passion was dancing, especially ballroom, polka and swing. Herb is survived by his dear lady Helen Goalby, daughters Joy Buck, Patricia St Michel and Linda Dawson, son-in-law Paul St Michel, grandsons Richard Dawson and Travis Buck and step-granddaughter Jacquelyn St Michel. He has ten nieces and nephews. Opie’s children: David Dawson and wife Nedra, Kathleen Gerrald, Stephen Dawson, Denise Dawson and wife Heather MacLeod, Michael Dawson and Timothy Dawson and wife Mary Kathleen. Frank’s children: Cynthia Waytula and husband Joseph, Martin Dawson, Thomas Dawson and wife Elaine and John Dawson, Herb is preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Grace, wife Evelyn and brothers Opie and Frank. Graveside service for immediate family will be provided by Rose Family Funeral Home at Oakwood Memorial Park and Cemetery in Chatsworth, California on April 7 with Pastor Ryan Chaddick of American Lutheran Church presiding. A memorial service is planned for the summer, circumstances permitting. Memorial donations may be made to the Los Angeles Food Bank https://www.lafoodbank.org. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all who loved Herb.
