Hortencia “Sandi” Scheingart

Hortencia “Sandi” Scheingart, age 78, of Simi Valley, California, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026.

Born in San Diego, California, to Jose and Clara Campos, Sandi carried with her the warmth and strength of her California roots throughout her life. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, and friend.

Sandi worked for many years as an Administrative Assistant for the City Manager’s Office and the Simi Valley Police Department, where she was known for her dedication, reliability, and steady presence. She took pride in her work and the relationships she built throughout her career.

She will be remembered as kind, generous, and fiercely independent. Sandi had a quiet strength and a giving heart. Her greatest love was her family. She was a proud and devoted mother to Lisa and Chris, and her love for them was unwavering and unconditional.

She was formerly married to Bob Stein, the father of her children, who remained a dear friend and was by her side at the time of her passing.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa, and Lisa’s longtime partner, Steve Malone, whose support brought her comfort, especially in her final days.; her sisters Margaret (Richard) Zander, Norma (Mohammad) Karbasi, and Carol (Rick) Bransford; her twin brother Joe Campos; and her brothers Ed (Cindy) Campos, Ray (Ruth) Campos, and Michael (Peg) Campos, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Chris Stein; her brother David Campos; her sister Marianne Fox; her sister-in-law Christine Campos; her niece Katie Louviere; and her parents, Clara and Jose Campos. She is now at peace, reunited in heaven with her cherished family.

Viewing will be held Tuesday, March 3, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

Funeral services will take place Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 10:00 AM.

Burial services will immediately follow at Assumption Cemetery.

A reception will follow, with details to be provided.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and hospice team at Simi Valley Hospital for their compassion, care, and support.

Sandi’s kindness, resilience, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
