JoAnn Schnelldorfer, treasured wife, beloved mother, devoted grandparent, cherished Aunt and loyal friend, passed away on April 15, 2026, in Thousand Oaks, California. Born in Rochester, New York, on September 26, 1946, to Vicky and Tom Diprima, she was the oldest of 5 children. JoAnn lived a life defined by kindness, strength, and steadfast devotion to family and friends.
For 56 years she was happily married to Joseph Schnelldorfer who proceeded her in death on December 29, 2025. Together they shared a lifetime of love and partnership. As a mother to Kimberly Sellers (Douglas Sellers) and Joseph Schnelldorfer (Stacey Schnelldorfer) she made her children the center of her life and measured success by the strength of those relationships.
JoAnn was a proud grandparent to Cameron and Madison Sellers and Jacob and Aiden Schnelldorfer, she treasured the simple pleasures of stories, hugs, and family traditions. JoAnn put her children and grandchildren first—offering patient guidance, steady support, and countless sacrifices so they could thrive. Her friends remember her as compassionate, honest, and always willing to help. JoAnn was always ready with a listening ear.
JoAnn was the oldest of 5 children and is survived by Nancy Di Prima, LeeAnn Powell (Fred Powell), Linda Bewley (John Bewley) and Tom DiPrima (Laurie Di Prima) and many nieces and nephews. Her heart broke when her middle sister, LeeAnn passed away on January 9, 2025. With her love of family, she took delight in carrying on warm traditions, generous time, and a sense of belonging that her loved ones will carry always. Family gatherings in her home were some of her most cherished memories. Those occasions were marked by her warmth, attention to detail, her love language of cooking and the joy she took in bringing loved ones together.
JoAnn’s generous spirit and loyalty touched all who knew her, and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A memorial mass will be held by the family at 10AM followed by a reception in the Alumni Hall on June 27, 2026 at Bishop Alemany High School in Mission Hills, CA. Condolences may be sent to the family, and those who wish to honor JoAnn’s memory are encouraged to do so through acts of kindness in her name.
