John Michael Grillo

On December 3, 2014, John Michael Grillo, 53, passed away peacefully in Sherman Oaks, California.

John was born December 29, 1960, and passed before celebrating his 54th birthday. In the last two weeks of his life he enjoyed a road trip with Mary Anne to Arizona, celebrated Thanksgiving with his family and friends, celebrated Mary Anne's birthday and trimmed the Christmas tree with his parents.

John Michael Grillo was born in Brooklyn, New York to Paula and Sam Grillo. Later the family moved to Brentwood, New York where John enjoyed playing street hockey and running through the woods with his childhood friends. He always carried his love for New York throughout his life, no matter where he lived.

The Grillo family later relocated to Southern California where John later graduated from Granada Hills High School in 1979. After graduation, John went onto earn a certificate in Automotive Specialization from Antelope Valley College. He put his skills to use as a Smog Technician for the State of California for twenty five years. Throughout the years John enjoyed golfing, listening to Classic Rock music, and rebuilding classic cars. He was a kind and gentle man that had a generous heart that was loved by all that met him.

John is survived by his parents, Paula and Sam Grillo of Simi Valley, California; sister, Lisa Bradley; brother-in-law, Brian K. Bradley; nieces and nephews, Samantha, Brianna, Sean, Brian Thomas and Gabriel Bradley; his beloved fiancé, Mary Anne Neighbors; and pets, Francine Grillo and Zachary Bradley.

The family will receive friends on December 9, 2014 at 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Rose Family Funeral Home, 4444 Cochran Street, Simi Valley with a Vigil Service to held at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Saint Peter Claver Catholic Church, 2380 Stow Street, Simi Valley to be held at 11:00 AM with Reverend Riz Carranza of Saint Peter Claver Church officiating.
