June Vivienne Weinreb

October 26, 1926 — October 3, 2023

June Vivienne Weinreb, age 96, of Chatsworth, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday October 3, 2023. She will be remembered by family as a genuine and giving person who truly enjoyed helping others. Family was by far the most important part of June’s life, and she infused those same values into her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was born in Nottingham, England on October 26, 1926 to Eric & Olive Morgan. She had one sister, Beryl Batty, born in 1932.

She attended Nottingham High School in England, where she was President of the school in 1941. Sometime after she graduated high school, she met her husband, Lawrence Weinreb, at a dance in Nottingham. She was 17 and he was 20. As June always said “We met at a dance and the rest is History” He was a Lt. Pilot for the US Army AirForce stationed there during WW2. They endured a three-year long-distance relationship until she was able to come to the United States with him. They celebrated 59 years of marriage before his passing in 2006.

Together they have 3 children, Janette C. Weinreb of Springville, Michael D. Weinreb of Malibu, & Steven R. Weinreb previously of Chatsworth, who preceded her in death in 1998.

She has 6 grandchildren. Tony Swift of Carmichael, Nicolas San Filipo of Springville, Matthew Weinreb of Chatsworth, Michelle Mamanne of Chatsworth, Danielle Weinreb of New York, and Tristan Weinreb of Malibu. She has 7 Great Grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

June saw the beauty in everything. Her English upbringing played a major role in every aspect of her life. The pride she took in her family and their home was of the utmost importance to June. From mastering recipes for a variety of cuisines in her kitchen, to the love and talent she had for landscaping/gardening, the results were always exquisite creations that stood out to everyone. It was her “English Gardens” style of landscaping that set the tone for her unique design technique. She had a gift for creating and maintaining the best gardens, as well as preparing the most unique, delicious dishes. So much so, that she would share her knowledge and teach these skills to family and friends alike.

She always put forth a remarkable effort into fashion and beauty. If June left the house to go anywhere, it meant full makeup, stylish hair-dos, and carefully coordinated outfits for herself and her family.

She had a great love for all animals, but especially for dogs. Over the years, June and Larry raised and showed many different breeds of dogs. Their Golden Retrievers were considered part of the family, as was shown on Photo Christmas Cards from the Weinreb’s over the years.

On weekends the family took exciting trips either by auto, plane, or yacht. She enjoyed it all, as long as the family was together. Lawrence was the captain at all times.

June is preceded in death by both her parents, her son Steven R. Weinreb in 1998, her husband Larry A. Weinreb in 2006, and her sister Beryl J. Batty in 2018.

A Funeral Service for June will be held at Rose Family Funeral Home located at 4444 Cochran St. Simi Valley, CA 93063 on October 26, 2023 at 12pm, with graveside service to follow.
