Kelly "Gee" Magee

At first glance, most people couldn’t see the real Kelly Magee; being a 6’6” tall redhead is enough to throw anyone off and I think he liked it that way. What was visible on the surface never told the full story. His true character, values, and impact were much deeper; revealed only to those who truly knew him. Kelly did not live for appearances, but for what was real. He lived with a clear sense of what mattered most: living intentionally, forming deep connections with others, and expressing emotions with honesty and depth. Those fortunate enough to truly know him experienced something unforgettable. His presence was steady and grounding, and his connection to others was genuine and lasting. He lived with conviction and heart, and he had a way of reaching people in a manner few ever do. To know him was to know loyalty, humor, and authenticity that remained long after a shared moment had passed. He made people feel seen, truly seen! Not in passing, but in a way that stayed with you. He had a gift for recognizing the person beneath the surface and meeting them with genuine interest, understanding, and acceptance. In his presence, people felt valued without judgment, understood without needing to explain themselves, and reminded that who they were mattered. The relationships Kelly built were not many by chance, but deep by choice, formed through the care and attention he gave to those he allowed close.

Conversations with Kelly were always engaging. He had a quick wit and a clever way of expressing himself, often delivering humor with an unmistakable glint in his eye. Kelly possessed a mischievous spirit that was always goodhearted, but never mean-spirited. With a grin or a perfectly timed remark, he could push the envelope, make his point, and say exactly what needed to be said without ever having to spell it out. His humor was warm, intelligent, and unmistakably his own. Anyone who spoke with him was left impacted by his sharp wit and the ease with which he could bring ideas to life through language.

Kelly had a rare ability to recognize potential in others before they could fully see it in themselves. Through encouragement and thoughtful challenge, he created space for growth, not only in skill, but in confidence and self-belief. In his presence, people did not just become better at what they did; they became more certain of who they were. This same clarity and intention also shaped the way he moved through his own life. When Kelly set his mind to something, he pursued it with focus, discipline, and determination, and it showed in all that he did. This was evident in the many paths he took: coaching the Verdugo baseball team, expressing his creativity through music, and dedicating himself as a professional golfer.

Kelly will be remembered for his wisdom, integrity, and steady presence, and for the way he made others feel seen and valued. Through his life, he inspired others to live with greater honesty, courage, and authenticity. Though he will be deeply missed, his impact lives on in the love he gave and the lives he touched. I know how rare it was to be loved by him in the way I was, and I will be forever grateful for the 21 years we shared together. And because he lived and breathed golf, I like to think he is up there now hitting balls with that unmistakable Moe Norman swing.

No public services will be held. Family and friends are invited to share personal memories and stories so that his life may continue to be honored through the moments we hold in our hearts.
