Professor Kenneth S. Chapman (Ken) of Simi Valley, California, passed away on September 21, 2025 at Simi Valley Hospital.
Ken was born in Ames, Iowa to Professor Orville L. Chapman and Faye M. Chapman on March 11, 1958. He grew up in Ames but finished his senior year at Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks. Ken earned his undergraduate degree from U.C.L.A and his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Minnesota. He worked as a college professor at California State University, Northridge for over 30 years and loved his job and his students.
In addition to his enthusiasm for teaching, Ken was a huge fan of Major League Baseball, particularly the California (Anaheim) Angels and Minnesota Twins, and football at the collegiate and professional level. He especially loved the Buffalo Bills. He also enjoyed spending time with friends, well into the wee hours of the night, telling stories if his friends could keep up with him.
Ken is survived by his wife, Sheryl, mother Faye, brother Kevin and 3 nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Orville L. Chapman.
A celebration of life is to be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Ventura County Animal Services. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Simi Valley Hospital, Rose Family Funeral Home and California State University, Northridge.
