Valene Williams passed away in her home on her 83rd birthday. She was born in Santa Paula to Val and Meryle Smith. Valene grew up in Simi, graduated from Simi High School and later married Ed Williams. The couple was married for 38 years and after Ed's passing Valene came back to Simi where she lived her remaining years. Valene served for many years on the Board of Directors for the Strathern Historical Park and Museum, was an active sister in her PEO Sorority and a member of Stonebridge Church in Simi. Valene leaves a son, Craig Williams of Simi, a daughter Sandra Bakken of Lakewood and four grandsons. Surviving her also are her sisters Betty Bateman of Simi and Dorothy Havens of Yakima WA. A memorial service will be held on Monday, Oct. 7th at 1:00 at the Chapel of the Oaks at Oakwood Cemetery in Chatsworth. Reception will follow at the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center in Simi Valley. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the National Down Syndrome Congress
