Lucille Marie Tatro Fortin Skibinski, 97, passed peacefully on September 12, 2025 in Simi Valley, CA. She is survived by her children, Mary Kay Sloan, Jim (Sharon) Fortin, Barbara Bowers, Mike Fortin (Donna) and Janet (Alex) Gandel; 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild as welll as many extended family members. Lucille was born on June 19, 1928 in Watseka, Illinois to Lena Lanoue Tatro and Maurice Tatro; brother Vernon Tatro, sisters Verna Dexter and Betty Blain, all preceding her death. Lucille married Leonard J. Fortin on April 27, 1946 and later to Kenneth Skibinski on May 12, 1982, also both preceded. A long time resident of Manteno, Illinois for many years, she moved to Lake Havasu, Arizona in the early ‘90s and thereafter to Simi Valley, CA to reside with her youngest daughter, Janet and husband Alex in 2002. Lucille worked many years in the area at A&P as bookkeeper, supervisor and checker as well as Stuart’s women’s store as assistant manager. Lucille was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Manteno serving as president in 1959-1960. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed cooking, baking, puzzles and cards. Services and burial will take place on Friday, October 3, 2025 at 11:00 am at The Rose Family Funeral Home with burial at Assumption Cemetery in Simi Valley, California.
