Max Eldon Pyne

November 3, 1924 — March 2, 2017

Max Eldon Pyne, died 3/2/2017, at age 92 in Thousand Oaks, CA. Max was born in Provo, Utah 11/3/1924. He was the second youngest of five children. He spent his childhood on a fruit farm during the depression. His boyhood was a happy one. He & friends were full of mischief & a love for excitement including a motorcycle at age 17. He enlisted in the Navy after graduating from HS following Pearl Harbor. He served as the bugle master aboard the West Virginia Battleship. He was in combat from 1943 until 1945. He was certain that his survival & those of his ship mates was due to his mother’s prayers.

Max married his High School sweetheart Joyce Hight in 1947. Their children are Don Pyne (wife Marsha) Somis, Ron Pyne (wife Susan) Camarillo, Melody Carruth (husband Joe) Laguna Hills, Mike Pyne (wife Cindy) Rio Rancho, NM, & John Pyne (deceased). The family resided in South Pasadena and moved to Ventura in 1962. They divorced in 1969.

Max married Barbara Talley, the love of his life, in 1971 & became the stepfather to Jennie Talley (spouse Inga), NYC, Susan Jones (husband Don) Camarillo, & Tom Talley (Ventura).

He worked as a carpenter, then a superintendent & eventually the owner of Hight Construction of Ventura. Max built many commercial buildings throughout Ventura County.

He was a talented musician, photographer, and artist. He was ambitious & had a strong work ethic. Max spent his life learning. He was an avid reader, mastered the computer late in life, & enjoyed discovering new things. Max had a "Technician Class" HAM radio license. Max & Barbara loved jeeping in the Rubicon area of Lake Tahoe, & together they traveled the country in their RV. He was a 33 degree Mason. Most of all he enjoyed his family.

Max is survived by his wife Barbara, his children, 14 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren. He finished his earthly mission & has returned to his creator.

The family will be having a private memorial service.
