Merle Keith Lewis

Merle Keith Lewis, 94, of Los Angeles CA, passed away on February 19, 2016 in Woodland Hills, CA.

Merle was born in Valley Junction, IA, now known as West Des Moines, IA to Clifford and Celia on January 16, 1922. He went to high school at East High School, Des Moines, IA and graduated in 1940. He then went on to serve in the Army, honorably discharged in 1945. He went on to earn a degree in Political Science from University of California, Los Angeles in 1949. He worked as a Pupil Services and Attendance Councilor for Los Angeles Unified School District for 30 years and retired in 1982. He enjoyed swimming, golf and table tennis. After retirement he traveled with his wife all over the country and parts of Canada.

Merle is survived by his son, Randal, of Los Angeles, daughter in-law Kathleen, granddaughters Morgan (Brian) and Michelle, step granddaughter Ananda, great grandchildren, Tierra and Bradley, Sister Pauline, Brother Duane and many loving nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Jeanne, his stepdaughter Paulette, his step-granddaughter Rebecca and his brother Rex.

Merle will be remembered for his love of his family, his kind, compassionate and loving nature. He cared deeply about the state of our world and was involved in many philanthropic organizations. He will be truly missed by all.

Private memorial services will be held by the family.
