Michael Ryan Crowley (Mike), 66 years old, of Thousand Oaks, California, passed away on November 29, 2015 in his home after a short, but valiant, battle with cancer.
A memorial service celebrating Mike’s life will be held at Lighthouse Church (3353 Old Conejo Road Newbury Park, California) on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 3 o’clock, officiated by Pastor Leaf Zwerling of The Shepherd’s House Church.
Mike was born in Olympia, Washington to Josephus Charles Crowley Jr. and Marvella Mae Crowley on December 29, 1948. His family moved from Washington to California shortly after he was born. He grew up in Southern California and attended Crescenta Valley High School and graduated June of 1967. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering at California Polytechnic State University, Pomona. He continued his education at UCLA and King’s Seminary. As a Chemical Engineer, he worked for C. F. Braun/Brown and Root, and then transitioned to an Environmental Engineer at Stantec. In the transition between Chemical and Environmental Engineering he earned his Professional Engineering License in Mechanical Engineering. He was bi-vocational and served as an ordained pastor of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel at The Shepherd’s House as the Pastoral Care Minister.
His greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren and Saturday’s were often spent at their events and games. He was an assistant scout master for both his boys and had many scouting adventures with the entire family. He also enjoyed sharing his love of nature and history with family road trips in the US and Europe.
Mike is survived by his wife of 45 years, Diana; his mother Marvella and sister Shannon Akin; his loving children Christa Crowley and husband John Bean, Matthew and Amber Crowley, and Mark and Jessica Crowley; and his delightful grandkids, Jonah and Caleb Angat, and Ava, Ian and Maya Crowley.
Memorial donations may be made to Our Community House of Hope (www.ourhouseofhope.org).
The family wishes to extend our deepest gratitude to The Shepherd’s House Family, Lighthouse Church, and many others that have given prayers and support in this difficult time.
