Michael John Sorensen

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother and uncle Michael John Sorensen. Michael “Mike” was born July 23, 1968, and passed away Tuesday March 26th 2024, in Simi Valley as the result of a motor vehicle accident.

Mike was the fifth of nine children born to Peter and Madeleine Sorensen and spent most of his life in Southern California. Mike enjoyed many camping and fishing trips with his father Pete, and his brothers Joseph, Daniel and John.

As a young boy surrounded by many siblings and friends, Mike lived a carefree life with an ever-present smile and even quicker sense of humor. Mike carried with him the gift of charisma. He easily made friends from all walks of life.

Mike worked in several lines of work ranging from a Limousine driver, Landscaping with his brother Joseph, GI Rubbish, and construction.

Mike was relied upon by most of his siblings to help them with various ‘home improvement’ projects. Mike could be counted on not only for his physical strength but also his brilliant humor, jokes and general teasing nature while he worked. We will never forget these moments where his brightness carried the day.

Mike faced daily obstacles with infinite resilience and humor and these characteristics were the hallmarks of a life lived on his own terms.

Mike is preceded in death by his father Peter (R.I.P. 2/13/2013) and brother Daniel (R.I.P. 7/19/1999)

He is survived by his mother Madeleine and siblings Sharon, Jennifer, Joseph, Kathleen, Molly, Anne and John. Additionally, nieces and nephews: Nicholas, Connor, Michaela, Clare, Emma, Hannah, Meghan, Cley, Andrew, Eve, Lisa, and Vaughn and great nephews Adrian and Julian. Also, sister and brothers-in-law Elizabeth, Richard, Harry and Scott. The Sorensen family would also like to acknowledge Deanna, Mike’s girlfriend, who he affectionately called “My lady”.

His funeral Mass will be April 10th at 10am at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Assumption cemetery, also in Simi Valley.
