Monica Mary Horning

Monica M. Horning, 87, of Simi Valley, California passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday morning, November 24, 2022. She was born in Bismarck, North Dakota on November 22, 1935, to Harry and Minnie Sturn, both of whom preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her husband, Harold, her brothers Chuck, Don, and Eddie, and her daughter Cheryl. She married Harold Horning on June 12, 1956. Harold and Monica were married for 27 years and although they were divorced, they remained good friends up until his death. Monica was a loving mother to her surviving children Vickie Andres and her husband Joe, Tammy Day and her husband Ray, Laura Vercoe and her husband Todd, and David Horning and his wife Ilda. She is also survived by her grandchildren William, Andrew, Connie, Dylan, Grant, Luis, and Allen. She has one surviving brother Richard. Monica lived most of her life in California and worked for LAUSD before retiring on June 30, 1994. She had many passions in life, including bowling leagues, and dancing and she loved doing puzzles. A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate her life at 11:00 am on Monday, December 12, 2022, at Rose Family Funeral Home, 4444 Cochran Street, Simi Valley, CA 93063. There will be a private burial for family members following the service.
