Muching Lin, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025, at Sunrise Senior Living in Westlake Village, California, at the age of 79.
Born on October 24, 1945, in Nantou, Taiwan, Muching was the second of six children, with two brothers and three sisters, and was predeceased by one brother. His life was marked by kindness, generosity, and a gentle spirit that touched many lives.
In 1970, Muching immigrated to the United States to pursue a master’s degree in materials science engineering at the University of Southern California. On June 23, 1972, he married his beloved wife, Melody Lin, beginning a partnership that spanned over five decades. Together, they raised three children—Anita Galioto (née Lin), Bennett Lin, and Christopher Lin—in a home filled with love and care. Muching was also a devoted grandfather to Anita’s sons, Samuel (19) and Tomas (18), a cherished brother to his siblings, and a generous uncle who provided unwavering support to his nieces and nephews, who all loved him deeply.
Muching dedicated much of his career to Rotoflow, later acquired by Atlas Copco and then GE, where he worked as a gas dynamics engineer until his retirement. After retiring, he launched Rotodyne, a small consulting firm that employed many of his colleagues, allowing them to continue lending their expertise in the industry. The family lived in North Hollywood until 1992, then Northridge, before Muching and Melody moved to Westlake Village in 2020 to be closer to Anita and her family.
Known for his warmth and selflessness, Muching was a pillar of strength for his family and a generous friend to many, and will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Melody; children, Anita (Alejandro) Galioto, Bennett, and Christopher; grandchildren, Samuel and Tomas; three sisters and one brother; and many nieces and nephews.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Sunrise Senior Living in Westlake Village for their compassionate care and dedication to Muching during the last two years of his life.
A memorial service will be held on September 22, 2025, at 1 PM at Rose Family Funeral Home in Simi Valley. The family warmly invites attendees to bring a favorite memory of Muching to share in the guestbook or with the family, celebrating his remarkable life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Avenues Supported Living Services, an agency dedicated to empowering individuals with developmental disabilities, and who care for Muching's son Christopher.
