Listen to Obituary

Nancy Lee (Orme) Haslam, 77, of Thousand Oaks, California, passed away peacefully at home on November 9, surrounded by her loving family, following complications from Alzheimer’s disease.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 22, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 35 S. Wendy Dr., Newbury Park, CA 91320. Arrangements are being handled by Rose Family Funeral Home.

Nancy was born on February 22, 1948, in Northridge, California, to Verl Warren Orme and Lila Mae Lund. She graduated from Cleveland High School in 1966, where she was a member of the drill team and worked part-time at her father’s gas station. She went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Brigham Young University and dedicated her life to caring for others as a Registered Nurse.

Of all her nursing experiences, Nancy found her greatest fulfillment in her 15 years as a Hospice Nurse, where her compassion and gentle spirit brought comfort to countless patients and families. She also opened her heart and home as a foster parent, lovingly caring for six children over eight years.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Nancy had a deep and abiding love for Jesus Christ. She and her husband spent two years serving as senior missionaries for Brigham Young University–Pathway Worldwide, a calling she treasured.

Nancy found joy in art and home décor projects, baking bread for friends and neighbors, serving others through her church, traveling with her husband, and working as a professional genealogist. Above all, she cherished her role as an extraordinary mother to her five children and a creative, fun Nana to her seventeen grandchildren.

Nancy is survived by her devoted husband, Ronald Kimball Haslam, of Thousand Oaks, CA; her five children — Christine Elise McPhee (Thousand Oaks, CA), Samuel K. Haslam (Allen, TX), Ryan O. Haslam (Santa Clarita, CA), Amanda Marie Pinneo (Moorpark, CA), and Amy Diane Thompson (St. George, UT); and her seventeen beloved grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Verl Warren Orme, her brother Douglas Lund Orme, and her sister Teresa Marie (Orme) Hart.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who have shown love and support to Nancy and her family over the past few years.
