Nancy Needham

September 4, 1957 — October 26, 2013

One of Nancy's favorite songs was Something So Right, by Paul Simon. The lyrics go like this: "And I got a wall around me / That you can't even see / It took a little time / To get next to me." She identified with the song because a harsh childhood had forced her to put a barrier between her emotions and the outside world, but then she met her husband, David, and that wall tumbled to the ground. She learned to love without boundaries and Nancy's life became defined by an ever-reaching heart. As a reporter for the Ventura County Star, the Los Angeles Times, and The Acorn, she helped strengthen her community. She brought hope and help to the downtrodden. She never, ever backed down. Nancy had a sparkle that would draw people to her and an unending supply of kindness that she would freely give to her many friends. Above all, she was a devoted wife and mother, wholly invested in the progression and happiness of her family. She is survived by her husband, David, four children, Jennifer, Daniel, Michael, and Sean, and grandchild, Harvey. We don't know what we'll do without her, but we take strength in the lessons she taught us. Our hearts are filled with gratitude for her mighty example and wise council. All are invited to attend a memorial service celebrating her life this Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Thousand Oaks Stake Center. 1600 Erbes Rd Thousand Oaks, Ca 91362 Burial will be in Utah. In lieu of flowers, the Needham family requests that everyone take a moment to hug those dear to you and express your love for them. This would greatly please Nancy
