Norman D. Walters

Norman David Walters, 83, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2026, in Chatsworth, California, surrounded by the love of his family.

Norman was born in Morris, Manitoba, Canada, on November 30, 1942, to David Walters and Anna Juliana Janoske. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. The youngest of seven children and the only son, Norman left Canada for the United States in 1965, where he was proudly drafted into the Army. He eventually settled in California in 1968. Shortly after, he met Gayle, the mother of his children, and they welcomed Jason, Christopher, and Jodie. Later in life, Norman met Dolores through her mother while traveling on a casino tour bus. Dolores became his cherished life partner, and they shared 37 wonderful years together.

A true "country boy" at heart, Norman was easily recognized by his signature style: he always wore his cowboy boots, even paired with his work slacks. He dedicated most of his adult life to the automotive industry. Norman was a simple, exceptionally kind, and generous man. While practical and frugal, he always took care of his loved ones and ensured that life was full of fun. He loved gathering with friends to play guitar and poker, building a lifetime of fond memories. His vibrant passions included classic cars, the horse track, casinos, hunting, skeet shooting, golf, and fishing on both oceans and lakes. He joyfully shared his love for the outdoors, sports (especially hockey and baseball), and music with his children, who will proudly carry on these cherished family traditions.

In his final days and moments, Norman was enveloped in a space of deep love and peace. His family stayed by his side, playing guitar and singing his favorite songs to comfort him during his transition.

Norman is survived by his three children, Jason, Christopher, and Jodie; his five grandchildren, Sofia, Elijah, Lilli, Liam, and Maxwell; his three sisters, Vera, Lily, and Doris; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his life partner, Dolores, in 2022, as well as many dear relatives and friends who left this world before him and whom he missed dearly. He will be missed beyond measure.
