Richard W Evans

Richard Wellington Evans Sr, age 78, a 47 year resident of Simi Valley, CA, passed away on October 22, 2015 peacefully at his home in Simi Valley with his loving wife Patty Bellini-Evans at his side.

Richard was born in Shubert Nebraska to John and Helen Evans on October 1, 1937. After serving in the U. S. Navy. He went on to earn an bachelors degree in Product Design from Art Center College of Design. He worked as a Graphic Artist for various companies before starting his own company. He is known for creating the second generation Cobra graphic for Shelby Cobra motors, and the stereo “Egg Chair.” He also created designs for Price Pfister Faucets, Schick Razor Company, and Paper Mate Pens. Economic circumstances side tracked his career in art. He became an owner/operator, moving furniture for Bekins Van Lines. He did not stop creating art during this time, and before he left the moving business, had created many pencil art drawings among other works. He retired at age 62. Not slowing down he self-taught himself computer graphics, completing several graphical art pieces. He then entered back into the workplace, and taught computer repair and Cisco computer network courses at Agoura and Calabasas high schools for 7 years. Following that he started teaching art at the senior center in Simi Valley. Besides enjoying art throughout his life he enjoyed traveling and camping. He received several awards for his art at juried art shows and was a member of the Simi Valley Art Assn. and West Lake Village Art Guild. He is a published author, writing “How to draw Everything”, available at Barnes and Noble.com -All of the proceeds from this drawing instruction book will go to feed the needy, in Simi Valley. He wrote and co-published a ‘Disney-esque’’ childrens book with PJ Bellini titled “ Ahab and the Littlest Genie”. Both books are available on line at Amazon.com

Richard is survived by his wife, Patty (PJ) Bellini-Evans of Simi Valley, his son Rick Evans and wife Brenda, his son David Evans, his son Joe Evans and wife Kim, his 3 sons’ mother Pat Evans, his wife PJ’s daughters, Amy Ohare and husband Donald, and Christie Schambera Fields, grandchildren Kyle Evans and wife Bretta, Cody Evans, Amberlyn Lane, Nate Evans, Tilger Evans, Emerson Evans, Donald Joseph Ohare and Bella Violet Fields, his sister Tulasi McClellen and husband Don, his brother Ron Evans and wife Cheryl, his brother Bobby Evans and wife Cindy, his sister Barbara White and husband Larry “Zoom” Zamenak, and his brother Reginald Evans and wife Sandy Bloom.

His final wishes were to be cremated, with a church service at Cornerstone in Simi Valley to be held Sunday November 15th at 2:00 pm. A reception will follow at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to feed the needy, may be made to Cornerstone Community Church at 2080 Winifred St. 93063. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Cornerstone Community Church. He was a blessing to his family, friends and the world. Amen.
