Ronald Wah Chan Young

Ronald (Ron) Wah Chan Young, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 19, 2015. He was 73 years old.

Ronald was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, the first of two children to Jack Sin Chong Young and Lily Seu Tau Young on December 14, 1941. He attended Roosevelt High School (HI) and graduated in 1958. At age 17 he moved to California “the Mainland” and went to airplane mechanic school; after graduation Ron took an interest in rocket engines and outer space. He furthered his higher education by attending Northrup Institute of Technology (CA) graduating in 1963 with a BS degree in Aeronautical Engineering thus began his thirty-plus year career with Rocketdyne, NASA and Rockwell International (CA, TN, & LA).

On December 13, 1969, Ron married the love of his life, Patricia Gale Young (Boyles) in Tennessee; they were happily married for forty-four years and raised their three children in Simi Valley, California. He enjoyed fishing, scuba diving and boating at their vacation homes in Tennessee and Hawaii, traveling, watching the Food Network and creating new dishes, spending time with friends and family and especially his time with his grandkids; Ron was a fixture at all of their basketball games and dance recitals. He attended Cornerstone Community Church in Simi Valley, CA and the Wilson Avenue Church of Christ in Tullahoma, TN.

Ron is preceded in death by his wife and soul-mate, Patricia G. Young and his father and mother, Jack and Lily Young. He is survived by their children, daughter Michelle Donnelly (Kevin) of Henderson, NV; son Kyle Young (Shannon) and daughter Kimberly Jones both of Simi Valley, CA; and four in a half grandchildren Kaden, Gaven, Payten Young, Kage and soon-to-arrive little brother Jones; sister Molly Miyashiro (Melvin) of Honolulu, HI.

Funeral service will be held at the Cornerstone Community Church, 2080 Winfred Street, Simi Valley, CA 93063, on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Todd Nighswonger officiating. A reception will follow the service prior to the burial. ********Hawaiian Attire encouraged!!!********

Burial will be at Oakwood Memorial Park located at 22601 Lassen Street, Chatsworth, CA 91311 at 1:30 PM. Rose Family Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements.
