Rosanne Elise Nowlin

Rosanne Elise Leibel Nowlin of West Hills, CA, passed away on November 26, 2014 at her home in West Hills.

An outdoor service will be held at Oakwood Memorial Park Cemetery 22601 Lassen St. Chatsworth CA 91311 on December 11, 2014 at 1:00 pm. Following the service, guests are welcome to join in celebrating Rosanne’s life at 3:00 at The Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center 3050 E. Los Angeles Ave. Simi Valley, CA 93065 (805) 583-7900.

Rosanne, or rather “Ronnie” as she was known for most of her life, was born Rosanne Elise Leibel in Wantaugh Long Island, New York to Maxine and Melvin Leibel on August 16, 1940. She graduated from Van Nuys High School in 1958, working for the U.S. Postal Service for 10 years before retiring to become a Homemaker and Business Owner. She took great pleasure in her role as Wife to Gordon Duane Nowlin, as well as his longtime Business Partner in their arborist, firewood, and veneer wood exporting business, and Mother to three daughters: Rachel Hoolihan, Takoa Nowlin, and Athena Shewbert. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, baking, crafting, garage-saleing, and taking care of others. She will be remembered for being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and as a genuine person with a heart of gold and a kind word for everyone.

Rosanne is survived by her husband Gordon Duane Nowlin, children Rachel Hoolihan/Erik Hoolihan, Takoa Nowlin, Athena Shewbert/Jeff Shewbert, and grandchildren Kyra Hoolihan, Skye Hoolihan, and Meila Shewbert, all of Simi Valley, CA. Also, step-daughter Vivian Denise Osborne/John Osborne and their family, “adopted” daughter/son Lera Christian/Scott Christian and their family, sister Cynthia Leibel, brother Richard Leibel and his family, and cousin Barbara Weiss and her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Susanne Sydney, and brother Joseph “Jay” Leibel.

Per her wishes, memorial donations may be made to The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 4929 Wilshire Blvd. #760, Los Angeles CA 90010 in lieu of flowers, at the sender’s discretion.
