Sammy Hernandez Menchaca, age 66, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday, June 3, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. Born October 3, 1958, in Northridge, California, Sammy lived a full and devoted life centered on family, tradition, and hard work.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Felix and Mary Menchaca. Sammy is survived by his devoted wife of over 30 years, Victoria, and their two sons, Sammy Jr. and Alexander. He also leaves behind his brother, Felix Menchaca, his sister, Nora Gonzalez, and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Sammy grew up in Canoga Park, where he graduated from Canoga High School in 1977. Shortly after, he moved to Simi Valley, California, where he planted roots and built a life defined by loyalty and dedication. For over four decades, Sammy worked alongside his father in the family business, Menchaca Tile, eventually taking charge and continuing the legacy with dedication and craftsmanship.
Outside work, Sammy found peace and joy in fishing, a lifelong passion that brought him closer to nature and those he loved. Whether casting a line from a quiet shoreline or heading out on deep-sea fishing trips, he was most at home near the water. Fishing was more than a hobby; it was a tradition he loved sharing with friends and family, often turning each trip into a lasting memory filled with laughter, storytelling, and the occasional big catch. Fishing was his favorite pastime, and he often enjoyed family gatherings, baseball games, hunting, and discovering a good seafood restaurant.
Sammy was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a man of quiet strength and love. His presence filled a room not with noise but warmth, wisdom, and the kind of calm assurance only someone truly content in life could offer. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love he gave, the work he did, and the simple joys he embraced.
