Shirley Mae (Jacobson) Hardy passed away peacefully on July 15th at her home in Moorpark, CA at the tender age of 98 surrounded by love. Born March 22, 1926 to Carl and Vera (Dubowsky) Jacobson in Long Beach, CA. Growing up through the Great Depression Shirley later attended Long Beach city college and went on to attend Knapp College of Nursing in Santa Barbara, CA with her sister Jacqueline where they later graduated as registered nurses. During Shirley’s training she met Vincent M Hardy, whom she married in 1958. She and Vincent eventually settled in Simi Valley, CA in 1962 where they raised their 3 children.
Shirley retired as a Registered Nurse at Simi Valley Adventist Hospital in the late 80’s. She was known for her practical jokes, quick wit, lovely smile and her one of a kind laugh. She illuminated any room she walked into. You would catch her joyfully singing one of her many silly jingles or playing her micro harmonica. Shirley enjoyed tending to her rose garden and the several trips to Hawaii exploring the islands and soaking up the sunshine. She adored having her family around for gatherings and loved going to her local Don Cucos sitting outside in the sun sipping a margarita on the rocks with salt and a chile relleno a la carte.
Shirley is preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years Vincent, sister Jacqueline, and brother Carl. Shirley is survived by her brother David, 3 children, son James (Susan), daughter Teresa (Robert Scruggs), son Thomas (Shannon), 9 grandchildren Jennifer, James, Jessica, Julianne, Vincent, Raquel, Michael, Thomas, Catherine, and 8 great grandchildren Madison, Savannah, Brayden, Tyler, Trey, Kendall, Khloe, and Isla.
A love without an end, Amen.
