Sophia Marianna Forslund

Sophia M. Forslund “Fia”, of Simi Valley passed on March 27, 2015 at the age of 63 at her home. Her final days were spent surrounded by her family.

Sophia was born September 6, 1951 in Amsterdam, Netherlands to Louis and Lena Franschman. In 1956, at the age of 5, Sophia and her family moved to the United States. She attended high school at Canoga Park High and graduated in 1969. She moved to Simi Valley in 1974 with her husband and 2 children.

Sophia loved raising her family and was very dedicated to them. She worked for over 20 years in the school cafeterias of Royal High School and Sinaloa Middle School. Sophia chose this part time job so she could spend as much time with her kids as possible.

On November 30, 2007 Sophia married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Forslund. She spent 7 years with Bob feeling loved like she never had before in her life. She truly felt blessed to have him as her husband.

Sophia also lived for her 5 grandchildren. There would not be a birthday, school event or family dinner she would pass up, just so she could be with her grandchildren. She always wanted to know what the grandkids were up to and when would she see them again.

Sophia is survived by her husband Robert Forslund; Her daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Bryan Giles; Her son and daughter-in-law Robert and Laura Miner; Her 5 grandchildren Hayley, Brandon, Hayden, Carson and Savannah; Her sister Louise Wright and her nieces and nephews.

Sophia was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Lena Franschman.

Services will be held April 4, 2015 at 11:00am at the Rose Family Funeral Home. 4444 Cochran St. Simi Valley, Ca. 93063

A gathering will be held after the services at Lisa and Bryan’s home.
