Virginia Mae Torgerson

Virginia Mae Torgerson, 93-years-old, died on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, in Simi Valley, CA. She is remembered best for her incredible smile, friendly personality, positive attitude, great sense of humor and for the desire to love and care for others. She was truly an Angel on earth who gave unconditionally and seemed to always make people laugh and feel like they were part of the family.

There was nothing more important in her life than her family and God and she really enjoyed spending time with friends.

Virginia was born on January 19, 1921 in Branson, Colorado to Joseph and Lottie Montague. The youngest of six and the only girl. Her loving brothers who are now reunited with her in heaven are - Lloyd, Theodore, Jay, Earle and Arlo.

Virginia lived like she never had a bad day and if you asked her how she was doing it was always, "I'm fine". Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are forever changed by her constant nurturing and love. Her warm smile, and ability to joke around and have fun will never be forgotten.

After graduating from Canoga Park High School, she married her sweetheart, Roland Torgerson. The couple soon moved to Santa Susanna, the "Knolls" to raise their five children. Roland Gerald, Raleigh Jay, Sandra Lee, Carol Lynne and Pamela Sue.

After the sudden death of their daughter Sandra in 1972, Roland and Virginia raised Sandra's three girls, Ginny age 7, Laura age 4 and Michelle age 3. Roland and Virginia were married for 53 years until Roland passed away on October 11, 1994.

Virginia loved her friends at New Hope Church and the Simi Valley Senior Center, she loved camping, fishing, the horse races and to go on outings with family and friends.

Grandchildren: Renee Torgerson, Sonia Judd, Jerry Torgerson, Bill Torgerson, Felicia Greer, Brent Fort, Jimmy Torgerson, Tammy Torgerson, Justin Torgerson, Jason Torgerson, William "Bill" Torgerson, Darren Torgerson, Caine Hobson, Sandra Torgerson, Jamie Martin, Christine Walker, Denine Hollen, Katrina Winans, Nicole Davis, George Sgambellone Jr., Heath Harris, Kyle Quiroz, Kory Quiroz, Amanda Hayward, Katelynn Hayward, Shantel Sojka, Bobby Sojka, Breanna Sojka, Britt Dunn, Michael Rameriz, Jake Rameriz. Other family members: Unfortunately there are too many beloved family members to list, but she was blessed with 57 Great Grandchildren and 28 Great-Great Grandchildren.

There will be a Memorial Service on Wednesday, August 13th, Cornerstone Church, 2080 Winifred Street, Simi Valley, CA at 1:00 pm. The family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support.
