Wayne Edward Thompson

Wayne Edward Thompson, (AKA Uncle) age 78, of Simi Valley, California, passed away peacefully in his home early Tuesday morning, May 27, 2025. He was born March 6, 1947 in Florence, Arizona. He was the son of Calvin Thompson and Dennie Evans. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Calvin and Dennie, brothers Leroy and Gene Thompson, sisters Eileen Alexander, and Donna and Linda Perkins. He was survived by his loving wife Diane of 46 years; sons Darin (Katrina) and Ryan (Tara); grandchildren Henley and Kyler, and sister Beverly Petross.

Wayne grew up in Shafter and Tehachapi California. After high school he became mechanic following in his dad and brother’s footsteps. He met the love of his life at Westlake Inn April of 1978. They got married five months later in South Lake Tahoe. They welcomed Darin in 1980 and Ryan in 1983. Some years later Wayne became the hockey coach for both boys and took them to win the state championship.

Known for his dedication, Wayne held multiple positions throughout his years including; mechanic for Courtesy Chevrolet, business owner of Uncle’s Bait and art gallery Finishing Touch, facility manager for NOR and in his retirement became the manager at Vantage Apartments in Simi Valley.

Wayne enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved going to Las Vegas with his brothers, nephews and cousins. He was loved by everyone that came in contact with him. Wayne had a heart of gold and sense of humor that brightened the lives of everyone around him. He will be greatly missed. Life will not be the same without him.

Service will be held on Monday June 9, 2025, at  Ascension Lutheran Church, 1600 E. Hillcrest Dr Thousand Oaks, Ca 91362
